Florence and The Machine Miami Concert reviews
Matt K was decent, H&TH was FAB, Florence was odd.
This show was very uneven- the opener, Matt Kearney, was good, though in a kind of adult contemporary kind of way. Head and the Heart was FANTASTIC, such amazing energy and wicked cool band arrangements. Florence and the Machine was VERY odd; its very clear that Florence is extremely shy, and that really hurts the band's stage presence. The band was way over-produced, there was so much of the same layering of vocals-drums-backupvocals-synth that, well, it all ended up sounding the same. The backup singers were very odd-they were mediocre, and detracted from her performance as a singer. They focused on their new album, which I dont think is nearly as interesting as Lungs. It was just kind of boring. Her voice is pretty much the thing that saved it from being painful- she really does have a phenomenal voice.
